Best soul food in town
Went to the Broadway Market today to beat the Good Friday mishegas, and my husband was craving some soul food. We had 2 dinner, porkchops, mashed potatoes and greenbeans, fried chicken, yams and mac and cheese. I could have eaten a dozen porkchops. Melt in your mouth delicious. The skin on that chicken had a perfect crunch. All sides tasted great. The best lunch ever, and we were inspired to re-write a famous song lyric:
Donnie went out on the streets
looking for soul food and a place to eat
some pork chops here some collards there Broadway Market's the place where they say hey babe take a walk on the east side
I got a to-go order for lunch at his place in the front of the Broadway Market. The quantity of food was enough for two meals! I had the pork chop dinner which comes with two sides. Two huge pork chops were more than I wanted for lunch. The food is already prepared and kept hot, so there's no waiting unless there's a line at the counter. A good place to come for some real home cooking.
Stopped into the Broadway Market to get a watch fixed (best watch guy in WNY) and spotted Margie's Soul Food area. Although there were 4 people in front of me, the line moved relatively quickly - but the wait was worth it! Best ribs and chicken I've had in a long time! Numerous side dishes to include fried Okra which I haven't had since working in Oklahoma City and delicious collard greens. Can't wait to go back for what looked like the most amazing ox tails ever!
